BACKGROUND

Environmental issues have been growing interest of people’s concern. The rapid growth of population directly increases the demand of human basic needs while nature has its limit as some sources are not renewable. Moreover, the high technological advances also bring impacts to nature sustainability. The awareness towards this particular issue have been raised not only for government, but also academician, experts, NGOs, and even public society. We believe that an action to take care of our environment should be done by involving more elements including youth as the next generation. It is important for young people to be aware of this issue and involved in the endeavors to solve the problems.

Sasambo Greeneration Camp is an event purposely organized for youths who care about the future of their environment and have intention to do a concrete effort  to  preserve  the  nature.  This  event  will  also  connect  them  as  young  leaders around the world with the same passion in environmental issues and similar projects to solve environmental problems in their community. Therefore, through this event, the young leaders are expected to collaborate and exchange ideas in order to create a greater change to protect the nature and be the great friend for our earth.

EDUCATION

Through this program, the participants are expected to realize the importance of preserving and conserving the nature. The educational value will be implemented in this event not only through seminars or workshops but also from direct experiences  in  the  field.  The  participants  will  plant  trees  and  discuss environmental issues with youth from all around the world. Thus, youth is expected to share ideas, knowledge, and experience related to environmental issues and finally generate ideas for their own environmental projects.

LEADERSHIP

Leadership and social awareness is an expensive value at present time while these two soft skills are actually what youth needs as the next generation to better take roles in communities. In this program, not only the participant will be trained over their leadership skills through various group activities, they will also be challenged to do community service to the local communities. Those arranged sessions are expected to raise awareness of the participants about their surroundings and finally move them to lead, to serve, and to make changes for a greener earth.

CULTURE EXCHANGE & TOURISM PROMOTION

Cultural is the hallmark of ASEAN countries. Then when the youths had gathered, cultural exchange is the one thing that is mandatory to do. In this activity participants were later given a chance to showcase the culture of each Country. Not only the appearance of the culture, this activities is an open Forum to promote tourism destinations in their respective Countries.

Event will be Hosted at Pantai Klui, Malaka, Pemenang, Kab. Lombok Utara, NTB. Indonesia

Day 1 : Thursday, 18th January 2018

Airport Assistance

Airport assistance is an assisting set-up from the committees for all participants. The assistance will be from Lombok International Airport (LIA) Central of Lombok to the main Venue of the event that located in North Lombok. Assistance means thatsome of the committee will standby in the airport to guide the participants.

Check in

Check in is a registration for the accommodation of participants. We will not stay in the hotel but we will use tent among the program. Opening Ceremony and Ice Breaking Session In this session the participants will gather in one place than the committees will give ice breaking games so that the atmosphere among the participants will be more conducive and dynamic.

Day 2 : Friday, 19th January 2018

Workshop : The Making of Handy Craft by using egg’s ex shell

This second day workshop will learn about how Lombok people make use of ‘Leather Egg’ to become a decorator of a craft. As we know that egg shells usually become household waste. In this session, participants are expected to know how to utilize the same household waste to become a work of art.

Mangrove Planting

Mangrove planting is one of the activities in which participants will be invited to care about the circumstances around. On the island of Lombok, there is one point of mangrove development which is then used as a tourist destination. In this session the participants will go around using boats and look for the point of mangrove planting and after that will be given the opportunity to get around by boat around the mangrove area.

Night Class and Discussion

In this session the committee will invited some speaker to share about their experiences about how did they solve the problem about waste and how they manage it.

The First Speaker :

Mrs. Aisyah Odist

Aisyah Odist is the owner of Bank Sampah NTB Mandiri, She also the person that change the Kawis Krisant. The explanation about ‘Kawis Krisant’ are provided in the rundown of third day.

The Second Speaker :

Mr. Theo

Mr. Theo is the owner of the Griya Lombok. He is the person that really like an artistic things. He can make a furniture like chair, table, wall and etc by recycling a paper.

Day 3 : Saturday, 20th January 2018

Workshop at Kawis Krisant (The Creative Tourism Area of Integrated Waste Management)

Kawis Krisant is one area in Mataram City that has been transformed into an environmentally friendly tourist area and has the concept of integrated waste processing. This area was previously a slum area located on the edge of the river that cleanliness is not maintained.

But thanks to the initiative of Aisyah Odist who is also the owner of Bank Sampah (Waste Bank) NTB Mandiri, this area successfully transformed into a colorful area with the concept of integrated waste processing and become environmentally friendly and suitable for family tourism.

Currently, local people in the region have been aware of hygiene and have initiatives to participate in managing surrounding garbage.

Kawis Krisant has just launched to be an environmentally friendly tourist area on September 23, 2017, inaugurated by Vice Mayor of Mataram and Head of PLN NTB. At the inauguration ceremony, also attended cross-cutting community, especially the community that focus on environment issue.

Workshop : Making of Eco Bricks

Eco Bricks is one of the creative ways to manage plastic waste. As we know that today plastic waste is a serious problem for our environment. In Kawis Krisant himself, manage plastic waste by using eco bricks method has become a habit of society.What will be learned in this activity is not just learning how to make it, but we can also see the various works that have been produced by the community and also learn how to grow awareness for people to start eco bricks.

Workshop : The Making of Takakura Compost

Takakura compost is one of the creative ways to solve organic waste related problems. This compost is made by using organic waste material. And organic waste is usually produced by household activities.And through this activity, the participants will be given the opportunity to learn firsthand how to make It from the expert.

 

Workshop : The Making of Furniture by using a paper

The only person who handles paper waste into high-selling works is Mr. Teo. He is also the owner of The Griya Lombok. In his hands, paper trash can be a home furniture such as chairs, tables or others with a very high sale value.In this activity, the participants will be given the opportunity to see first hand how the process of making furniture by using paper waste.

Closing ceremony

After undergoing each series of activities, the activities will be followed by closing activities. In the closing activities the committee will showcase some of Lombok’s culture and some other entertainment. And then closed with fireworks.

Aisyah Odist – Owner of Bank Sampah NTB Mandiri

Aisyah Odist is one of the most well known environmental activists in the Provinces of West Nusa Tenggara. His work and breakthroughs in the environmental field have made him known not only domestically but also abroad.

Waste Bank NTB Mandiri’ is one of the works it has. Here Aisyah Odist conducts various activities related to the environment. Utilization of waste into valuable goods is one example.

Because of his work, currently Aisyah Odist is often given the confidence to become a resource in some activities and not only that, ‘the Waste Bank NTB Mandiri’ that is managed also has become a learning place for other people who want to learn related to the management of the surrounding environment.

Currently Aisyah Odist is continuing a big project, which is turning a slum into a tourist destination.

Mr. Theo – Owner of The Griya Lombok (Art Paper)

Mr. Theo is an artist who has a hobby of making antiques and modern things that have value to sell. Furniture, Wallpaper, Home decoration are some examples of the works that he did.

Perhaps what he produced looks like a normal thing, but there is something that makes him a very special person, that is because all the goods he produces have a basic material made of paper.

Not many people know, but he is often invited to fill some creative economic exhibition activities, even his works have been targeted to overseas markets.
