Reforestation refers to the establishment of forest. Due to modernization and illegal logging, the rate of deforestation keeps increasing. As a result, the ecosystem becomes unstable, the ozone is depleting, ice in the North Pole gradually melting and global warming is spreading. As the preventive act, people all around the world conduct reforestation to protect the earth and reduces global warming.
Here are some interesting facts about reforestation and conservation all around the world.
- In New York Times, Alexei Barrionuevo wrote that at a conference which is held by Greenpeace in Sao Paulo, four big cattle companies, which are Bertin, JBS-Friboi, Marfrig, and Minerva decided to prohibit the purchase of cattle from deforested areas of Brazil’s Amazon rain forest.
- Due to the high cost of reforestation,an interesting reforestation act is by inviting businessmen to invest by planting fast-growing trees. They will gain benefit from their planted trees, but should keep some trees to remain and preserve the forest
- Peru is a country which successfully implements restoration program by setting up community nurseries. The trees they plant functions as a windbreak to keep the animals from eating the saplings.
- Floresta organization provided loan for farmers in order to assist the farmers in growing wood and fruit trees such as eucalyptus, oregano, and vine-growing fruits. This step could reduce soil erosion.
